Before taking CELEBREX 200MG CAPSULE, inform your doctor if you have diabetes, raised blood pressure, increased cholesterol, signs of fluid retention (such as swollen ankles and feet) and/or hyperkalemia (increased potassium level in blood).

CELEBREX 200MG CAPSULE should be used with caution in children and adolescents (aged 2 to 17 years) to manage only juvenile rheumatoid arthritis and is advised to be used with caution in elderly patients (aged 65 years/above) after consulting the doctor.

What is CelecoxibCelecoxib is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) antidepressant class. This medication works by slowing the wasp-like time of the gastrointestinal (UGOGI) and cardiovascular (safety) tractsions compared to other antidepressants. After months of uncertainly, we’ve finally discovered that the painkiller Celebrex is actually a medication.But will that actually stop the drug from causing any harm?
The answer to that is to give the drug its full effect,” said Jim O’Leary, a urologist and professor at Tufts University School of Medicine.
Celebrex is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to relieve pain and inflammation.
When taken for arthritis, Celebrex is thought to reduce pain and inflammation by blocking cyclooxygenase enzymes.
“There’s no indication that Celebrex will stop Celebrex from causing any harm,” O’Leary said.
If Celebrex causes any harm, it could mean that Celebrex will likely never be FDA-approved to treat arthritis.
But doctors are divided on whether to prescribe Celebrex as a long-term treatment for arthritis.
“There isn’t really a black-box warning on the label,” said Dr. Joseph D’Agostino, director of the department of rheumatology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York.
“The FDA is not required to take that into account,” D’Agostino added.
Doctors are also unsure whether Celebrex is safe for long-term use.
“There is absolutely no need to worry about long-term use of Celebrex in the long-term,” D’Agostino said.
However, doctors are not required to always prescribe Celebrex for long-term use.
In addition, the drug isn’t approved for use in patients with kidney problems.
“This is an issue that’s being considered by patients,” O’Leary said.
He said some doctors are prescribing the drug for short-term use but others don’t use it regularly.
“The FDA is not required to take that into account,” D’Agostino said.
Doctors who prescribe the drug for long-term use should discuss with their prescribing physician the risks and benefits of taking the drug.
If a patient is given Celebrex for arthritis, the physician should tell them to stop taking it and see a doctor.
“You shouldn’t give Celebrex to someone who has kidney problems,” D’Agostino said.
Doctors should also be cautious about patients with asthma and other respiratory conditions, O’Leary said.
“I would encourage patients to talk to their doctor before taking Celebrex,” he added.
